Boy's sleepover backpack and blanket

Since I made a bag for a girl I thought it was only fair to make one for a boy as well. I used variegated yarn on the bag and made a ripple afghan to go with it.

Slumber party bag and blanket

I was trying to figure out a way to use up some of  my stash of pink leftovers and came up with this. The blanket is just basic granny squares in different shades of pink. The bag is crocheted in the round starting with 8 sc and increasing every Rnd  to Rnd 13 with 112 sc. Then crochet  evenly until the bag is 9 inches tall. Then 5 rows of V stitch (dc, ch 1, dc) in every other sc. The drawstring is a simple chain to desired length. The straps are to desired length and 5 rows of all sc to keep it a little stiff without stretching. The stripes are 5 rows each.

BUMMER

Well, my first craft bazaar was a total bust. I did manage to get a bigger table, and for free. But I didn't sell a single item. There were no other vendors with crocheted items, everybody else was selling paper goods and jewelry, and in one case some awesome paper bead jewelry and I think that is what everybody was looking for. There was pretty good business going on all around me but none for me. Hopefully my stuff will do better at a garage sale next year. Until then, I better find some storage room somewhere.

Frazzled

I'm getting ready for my first bazaar. I haven't ever participated before and wasn't sure if I had enough to sell, what size table to get, or how many days to go. Being a newbie I made a bunch of mistakes. I rented a 4 foot table thinking "I don't have That much," and now that I'm putting everything in totes to take to the bazaar I'm thinking "Holy Cow, I have Way too much for just a 4 foot table" unfortunately its too late to ask for a bigger table. And I'm afraid I will have tons left after only 1 day of sales. Between the baby sets, blankets, hats and toys I've filled 6 big rubber maid totes. OMG, what was I thinking???? And on top of all of my stuff, my daughter will be selling her friendship bracelets at my table too. I must be crazy.

On an Afghan kick

I don't know why, but lately all I've wanted to make are afghans. I keep getting more and more requests for hats, scarves and toys, but I keep sneaking in an afghan here and there. I've been working on a round ripple throw for a few weeks now and finally finished it. I think it turned out pretty good and I used up a bunch pf scrap blues in the process.
After I finished that, I made some more R2-D2 hats for a friend of my husband. Then I got some tiny granny squares from my mom after she lost interest in a project she started months ago. She had all the blue and green done and some of the peaches and yellows, so I just made some more and added pinks and purples to finish it up.

Spongebob Square Pants set

I've been asked to make a Spongebob Square Pants hat and scarf set for a little girl and another scarf for a teen. I couldn't find any free patterns so I winged it. I figured, he's square so how hard could it be. As it turns out, he's really simple to make, just 2 color changes on the main part so you have a large amount of yellow, a little white (for his shirt) and then brown for his pants. Everything else is made separately and sewn on.

Craft Bazaar

I've decided to participate in a craft bazaar at Craft City here in town. I've been crocheting like a mad woman to come up with enough inventory to sell. I hoping to sell some hats, scarves, and blankets, maybe even a few of my stuffed animals (not the copyrighted ones). Here are just a few of the things I've been making.

Christmas Projects

Here's the first of my Christmas projects, A Christmas light bulb scarf. I'm working on an elf hat to match this in the green with a bold bobble on the end. I do have a pattern for this if anybody is interested.
Here's a scarf from a Red Heart pattern called hearts and stripes. I just substituted holiday colors.

Shroomish

I found an adorable Shroomish on Kat's page and tried to make my own version as well. The top are from my pattern and the bottom are from hers. Mine is just a basic ball shape in two tones with a scalloped edge added on.

Finished a whole evolution!

I finished the entire evolutionary chain of Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff. I was inspired by Kats Creations to make the entire set. Her patterns were different from my Jumpluff so I improvised from my pattern of Jumpluff and used her pattern for Hoppip's leaves. Thanks Kat for the inspiration.

Spooking up the house for Halloween, so far we've got the graveyard out, the spiders out and the witch up. Still have to put out all of the inflatables and special effects and the yard will be complete.

Busy season

Sorry I haven't posted any new patterns for a long time. September through the end of the year is always so busy for me. My family has many birthdays during these months, and school starting up means field trips, open houses, conferences etc... Then there's my obsession with Halloween, it takes most of the month of October just to get all of the decorations up. Right now I am also making things on commission for the first time ever and more and more orders keep coming in for hats, scarves, and dolls. I don't even have patterns for most of the orders, I have to make them up as I go. Some of the things I didn't even know what they were and had to look them up, like I had no idea what Yo Gabba Gabba was, much less how to make hats inspired by it. This is what I came up with. I'm working on more owls hats too, and a spongebob inspired scarf. Plus so many requests for Pokemon stuffies for my kids friends, and they got to raid my finished projects bag and snag some of the Mario hat and scarf sets. Hopefully soon I can get Jirachi done or Charmeleon, or one of the hat and scarf sets that I put aside for a while, and get the pattern posted.

Owl Hats

I've never actually used a pattern for these but they are fairly simple to do
Owl hat

Main hat
make a ch long enough to go around whatever head you are making for and join to a circle.
Sc around as many row to get the hat long enough to be just at the top of the person's ears.
Flatten hat and sc through both thicknesses
for ear flaps go back to the first row and figure out where the ears are, then just sc 12 and then an even row, then dec on the 1st 2sc and last 2 sc, then an even row and keep doing it until there are only 4 sc. F/O

More requests

This set was just for fun
I've been asked by a friend to make some hats and headbands for her grandchildren, The first was the hello kitty hat for a birthday. When her kids saw the hats I made for 2 of her grandkids they started asking for more. I am now making 2 more hello kitty hats, 2 hello kitty headbands, 1 pink and green owl hat, and 2 more hello kitty dolls. That's just for starters, they are making wish lists for Christmas now too. On top of this I am making a bacon scarf and egg hat set for my daughter's boyfriend. Here's what I've finished so far, the owl hat and the bacon scarf. I'm almost done with another hello kitty hat and the egg hat
