Mario Bros Birdo





The original pattern, by Robotrish,  for Yoshi can be found here  and I modified it to make Birdo

I changed the eyes, arms, feet and snout/nose. I added a belly spot and made the bow from felt. Here are the modifications:



Materials
Pink and red yarn, small amounts of white yarn
red and black felt
fiber fill
H hook
Needle and thread







 I'll start at the top

 eyeballs in white

 Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)

 Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12)

 Rnd 3: sc in each sc around (12)

 Rnd 4: dec over next two sc around (6)


 eye socket- in pink

 Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)

 Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12)

 Rnd 3-5: sc in each sc around (12)


 eyelid- pink

 Ch 6. sc in 2nd ch from hook. HDC in next ch, DC in next ch, HDC in

 next ch, sc in last. (5)

 Snout -  pink

 Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic circle (6)

 Rnd 2: 2 sc in each around (12)

 Rnd 3: *sc, 2 sc in next sc *around (18)

 Rnd 4: *sc 2, 2 sc in next sc* around (24)

 Rnd 5: *sc 3, 2 sc in next sc* around (30)

 Rnd 6: working in front loops only sc around (30)

 Rnd 7: working through back loops only sc around (30)

 Rnd 8: repeat Rnd 7 (30)

 Rnds 9 - 15: sc around (30)

 Rnd 16:  *sc 3, dec in next 2 sc* around (24)

 Rnd 17: sc around (24)

 Rnd 18: *sc 2, dec in next 2 sc* around (18)

 I folded rounds 1-5 inside and sewed through rounds 6 and 8 to keep

 them in place during stuffing and sewed a black piece of felt to the

 inside for the snout opening.

 Attach yarn to one of the 'free loops' from round 2 of arm.  Chain 3,

 slip stitch in second ch from hook and next ch,  slip stitch to next

 'free loop',  slip stitch in next free loop. Chain 3,  slip stitch in

 second ch from hook and next ch,  slip stitch to next 'free loop',

 slip stitch in next free loop. Chain 3,  slip stitch in second ch from

 hook and next ch,  slip stitch to next 'free loop',  slip stitch in

 next free loop.

  Bow is made from felt, cut 2 and sew together stuffing very lightly.

 2 red spots for cheeks from felt. 2 black spots for eyes from felt.

Spikes are made using red and the rest of the body, and head using pink.
